In the arrangement of time and matter, the Lord of Chaos, who was chaos itself, created three different and distinct universes: two magical universes, and one scientific universe. The first universe consists of mostly Celtic-based magic and creatures. The second universe consists of a mostly Oriental-based world containing numerous creatures and cultures. The third universe is one where magic has been taken over by science. There are very few encounters dealing with anything magical or supernatural, and most are written off as scientific hoaxes. There is one small section of space where all three of the universes overlap at one point. Many different ranges of creatures and technologies collide within the this spot, so there is a wide and interesting variety of daemon, youkai, vampires, gargoyles, robots, clones, and whatnot. (As a side note: because of all this constant interaction from the three universes, the ability to dimension hop and teleport is no longer based on what race, but what power level you are.)
Because of this hot spot of variety, there are also several different Gods and Goddesses who come looking for worshipers to their religion. And like any other creature, gods like to have fun and bare children too, and sometimes, when one of these God/ddesses has a child with a magical being (side note: youkai aren't included, because they're farther down on the magical scale than the other beings), an angel is born.
Unlike your usual angels you hear in bible stories, these angels range anywhere from sweet and innocent to downright sick and demented. Unlike many creatures in the Hot Spot, angels like to stay low key. They don’t like to draw much attention to themselves, so they stay within their second, human form. Every being produces ki, or energy, and for more protection, angels can mask their energy so they seem like a high powered daemon or mazoku, and only angels can detect other angels. All angels looks basically the same in their angel form as they do in their human form. The only differences are longer hair, pointy ears, no pupils, and wings. Some types of angels gain tattoos as they get older, such as the dark angel, war angel, and star/spirit angel. Angels only return to their true form forced to; usually while in the midst a very difficult fight. Many mazoku do not like angels, because they are jealous of their power. These two powers are always quarrelling, but because of the level difference, the angel usually comes out on top.
Dark Angel
Born between: a being and a god of opposite powers (like a daemon god and an angel, or a purity god and a daemon, or a dark angel and another being.)
Description: black wings and (sometimes) red hair.
Best known for: going crazy
Characteristics: This type of angel is one of the most famous and dangerous of all the angels. Dark Angels don't live very long, and are even forbidden, because they tend to go crazy around the ages of 5000-8000 years. Around this age or older, dark angels begin develop a tattoo of two dots below their left eye. Since their make up consists of two completely conflicting personalities, their energy is always fighting against itself, causing an imbalance that finally causes the angel to snap. They usually just flip out and end up getting themselves killed. Surprisingly, the dark angel blood and gene is very potent, so if a child is born to this parent, the it will turn out to be a dark angel as well.
Twins: Dark angels are rare to begin with, but dark angel twins are an even rarer occurrence. When twins are born, one child gets similar physical characteristics of one parent, while the other gets the characteristics of the other parent. However, their mentality-- and most of their power skill-- is the opposite of the parent their physical qualities come from. Let’s say if, for example, a daemon god and a virtue angel had twins which turned out to be dark angels. One child would look like a daemon, but act like an angel, while the other would look like an angel, but act like a daemon. This very confusing to many people because not all twins will look like angels, so they are often mistaken as daemons or mazoku.
War Angel
Born between: the god of war and any magical being.
Description: blood red wings, and (usually) blood red hair, but it can range anywhere from charcoal, to gold and silver.
Best known for: extremely advanced fighting skills
Characteristics: This type of angel has a kind of love/hate relationship with humans: Humans love them because they help them win wars and battles, but they also hate them because they bring so much death and violence with them. Naturally, they are very popular among power-hungry humans. Most War Angels don't like humans much, since most of the time they only get to see the worst side of the species. As war angels become older, a tattoo of vertical lines will appear down below the eyes. This is often seen as symbol of pride and age.
Shadow Angel
Born between: the god of death and a daemon or mazoku.
Description: grey wings and usually dark hair.
Best known for: not giving a shit about anything or anyone
Characteristics: This type of angel has a little bit of a moral problem. They don't care about anyone or anything besides their selves and maybe their immediate friends. Shadow angels hate doing favors for other people, unless they can get something out of it They usually live in remote locations, away from things that can bother them. These angels like to have lots of promiscuous sex, however, they don’t produce many offspring because they will usually abandon it or not give enough of a damn to take care of it.
Chaos Angel
Born between: the god of war and a mazoku, the god of death and a war angel, or the god of war and a shadow angel.
Description: wing colour ranges anywhere from dark magenta to a dark violet, and (usually) coal black hair.
Best known for: being violent and insane
Characteristics: This type of angel is THE most dangerous out of all the angel species, and utterly banned from being borne. They are extremely violent, ruthless, and have no compassion for any living thing. Killing is their favourite pastime, closely followed by sex. Chaos angels are extremely intelligent and have highly advanced fighting skills.
Heavenly angel
Born between: the goddess of purity and a spiritual being.
Description: pure white wings and fair blonde hair.
Best known for: being heavenly, and (in the angel world:) being big pricks
Characteristics: These are the type you always see portrayed in religious pictures and such. There are only men of this breed of angel, for the goddess of purity seems to only produce male angels. She can and does give birth to females, but for some reason, only births male angels. They are usually portrayed as sweet and innocent, but in fact, they're just a bunch of big pricks; basically the yuppies of the angel world ^.^;; These angels act “heavenly” and whatnot, but only are because they live in heaven.
Daemon Angels
Born between: a lesser god and a daemon.
Description: daemon wings and black hair with red or gold streaks in it.
Best known for: causing trouble, being weak
Characteristics: This type of angel is the weakest out of all the different types of angels. They are not very popular and often misunderstood because of their appearances. They ARE angels, but no one really believes them, accept for other angels. Because of this disliking, daemon angels tend to stay more out of the lime light and have made an enjoyable habit of making everyone else’s life miserable.
Virtue Angel
Born between: the goddess of virtue and a spiritual being.
Description: wing colour can range through any shade of blue, and they usually have fair-coloured hair
Best known for: their kindness
Characteristics: This type of angel is kindest and most virtuous (duh) of all the angels. They LOVE fighting and will help out anyone in trouble. They are always putting others before of themselves. They want to maintain peace, but don’t mind a good conflict every once in a while. These angels are complex people, but with simple ideals. They don't like uselessly wasting energy and can’t understand why humans spend so much time trying hate each other, and different species, for such trivial reasons. When virtue angels become older, they start to develop a small diamond tattoo just under the left eye.
Ai(love) Angel
Born between: the goddess of love and any being.
Description: light pink wings and usually light, or bizarre coloured hair.
Best known for: making people fall in love with them
Characteristics: This type of angel is probably one of the most sought after of all the angels, because of their ability to make people fall in love. Depending on their mood, they can either be rather stuck up, or very giving creatures. They enjoy doing favours for people, however they always expect some type of payback, which can range anywhere from cash to sex. However, if you can't pay back an ai angel after they've given to you, look out, because you're in deep shit..
Random ai angel legend: A young girl met a young man who lived just across the village and instantly fell in love with him. She tried desperately to obtain his affections and the consent of her parents, but nothing she did would work. One day, she met a stranger passing by who asked her why she looked so sad. She told him her story, and compelled by the sad tale, the man revealed himself as an ai angel. He offered her his services, as long as she paid him back when it was done. The young girl agreed and the next day, the young man declared his love for her, along with the consent of the parents. The day of the wedding arrived a few weeks later, and so did the ai angel, looking for his payback. The angel had decided that that the young woman’s payment would be her own virginity. When she fiercely refused, the angel reminded her of the dire consequences of breaking the promise of an ai angel. Terrified and unsure of what to do, the woman complied. When the town soon found out about her lost virginity, the town was in an uproar. She was disowned by her family, labeled a whore, and banished form the village. Death Angel
Born between: the god of death and a magical being.
Description: beautiful silver wings, brown hair and black eyes.
Best known for: being the most beautiful of all the angels
Characteristics: These are probably one of the most famous of all the angels. Their beauty is heard of far and wide, though not many people have seen an actual death angel. They can change their appearance to anything form they want as long as it’s their same gender. They work for their father, the god of death, and go out delivering sentences when he gets too busy up in heaven. Death angels only reveal their true form to people who are about to die, so it’s no wonder why not many people have seen a death angel’s true form. ^^;;
Half Angel
Born between: an angel and a non magical being.
Description: cream coloured wings and (usually) brown hair.
Best known for: being half-breeds
Characteristics: These angels are looked down upon by the rest of the angel community, because they are half-breeds. Angels are very picky about their angel blood, and do not like it to be tainted. Half angels tend to keep the lowest profile of all the angels. They rarely show their true form, if ever, and tend to avoid other angels if they happen to be in the same area.
Black-Tipped Angel
Born between: two half angels.
Description: white wings with black-tipped feathers.
Best known for: their beautiful wings
Characteristics: Black-tipped angels are very popular among humans and non magical beings, because of their wings. They are much more highly respected than half angels, even though it takes one to make one. Don’t you just love society? ^^
Common Angel
Born between: any god and being not listed.
Description: white wings
Best known for: being angels
Characteristics: They most common of the angels.. Hence the name "common angel" ^^;;. They don’t really do much. They’re angels, and they cast magic, and that’s basically it. Some of them will show off their wings for side show carnival money, or work for a local church, but that’s basically it. This is the only angel that most humans and non magical beings ever see, and they’re usually mistaken for heavenly angels. Because of the mistake, they are widely worshiped and loved.
Star/Spirit Angel
Born between: ???
Description: Their wings are metallic and change colour in the light, and their eyes change colour with their mood (mood eyes, yay!), but they all tend to have brown hair.
Best known for: being highly intelligent; otherwise unknown
Characteristics: These are the oldest and rarest angels in the world. There are only 6 of them and it is unknown of how they were created. Spirit/Star Angels can breed, but they don't very often, because there are so few and over such a vast area. These angels are extremely wise and knowledgeable. They get their knowledge from the gods themselves, them being some of the only other angels allowed in heaven besides the heavenly angels. When star/spirit angels grow to a certain age, they develop a star tattoo on their forehead while in their angel form. This tattoo is sometimes known as a “third eye”. Even though it serves no real purpose other than to show race and age, people who have seen spirit/star angels describe them as having a third eye on their foreheads.
